I know it's been quite a while since Halloween and I have posted the photos on my Facebook account. But I'm quite happy about this project and hey, I'm aiming for a wider audience now.
Interesting character, check. Challenging, check. I wanted something that was difficult to accomplish with good result and few people would attempt to do. Obviously, I don't want to bump into a twin at some event.
Who would have thought that what took days to brainstorm only took an hour to make? Thank goodness bathing came into practice centuries ago. And that I come from a culture that feels bathing is as necessary as eating or breathing even. I do my best brainstorming while bathing, that's why. The evidence to prove this is this headpiece made from hot glue. I give credit to God and my parents ( I don't know which one owns the creative gene I inherited).
And what I wasn't gifted with or inherited from my parents, I learned from the experts. I watched video tutorials of the Black Swan make-up and did 3 make up rehearsals. Practice does make perfect. My eyes took 2 nerve-wracking hours to do each time, with prayers for every stroke of the brush. I wore the costume to two separate events.

I used liquid eyeliner for better staying power for the second party and
finally had the courage to try putting on false eyelashes as well.

What's even great is that all I had to do was dig out from my closet and raid my daughter's too for the other elements of the costume. It made trying to accomplish a look entirely my own so much easier. With a few blings and a brand new feather duster now sadly with bald patches, I was a thrifty Black Swan. After all, inspirations should only remain as that, inspirations.
